9. The model yacht pond at Slaughden was built on Elizabeth Garrett Anderson's instructions and was popular for many years.

10. The Golf Club was founded in 1884 by James Skelton Anderson. The original golfhouse was burned down in April1910 (see 74).

11. The new clubhouse in 1920. The golf course is a great asset to the town, being dry and playable in almost any weather.

12. North Lodge, a private house untill900, when it becarne the Wentworth Castle Hotel.

14. The Town Steps lead from the Terrace to the High Street and provide a fine roofscape on the way.

15. Looking up the Town Steps in 1920 soon after the Catholic Church had been built. The water pump is also visible. Many people in the smal! cottages obtained their water here as late as 1900.
