31. The exit from The Marsh via New Road. The entrance to St. John's Church can be seen between the two brick pillars.

32. It looks like they were blessed with a typically English summer day for the opening of the Hythe Fire Station on August 15th, 1927. A few more years passed before the Brigade received a motorised Fire Fighting Applianee.

33. St. John's Church. The new St. John's was built in the 1870's, with a capacity of the total loea1 population - five hundred people. The foundation stone was laid with due ceremony, during April of 1873, the original church, the smaller of the two, was demolished.

35. St. John's Church, New Road. St. John's main entrance is in New Road. New Road was built at the same time or very soon after the 'New' church. This view of New Road, looking towards The Marsh, was taken about 1900.

36. The War Memorial Hospital, Atheling Road. Many such hospitals were built as memorials to the people lost in the 1914-1918 conflicts. A lot of the hospitals were small buildings and known as Cottage Hospitals. This one has since been a Tea Room and Viesrage.

37. Hythe Congregational Church on the junction of Atheling Road and New Road. It was built to replace the chapel in Pylewell Road.

38. This photograph shows the ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone of Hythe Congregational Church.
